As a mom-to-be, I know firsthand how overwhelming and stressful pregnancy can be. It's a time filled with so much excitement and anticipation, but also with a lot of unknowns and questions. During my own pregnancy, I found myself turning to various forms of therapy to help me manage my emotions and find balance. And one type of therapy that I found particularly helpful was music therapy.
I remember sitting in my living room, headphones on, listening to my favourite songs, and feeling a sense of calm wash over me. The music helped me forget about my worries and focus on the present moment. I also enjoyed playing music for my unborn baby and imagining the bond that we were creating through the shared experience of listening.
As my due date approached, I turned to music once again to help me prepare for childbirth. I created a playlist of songs that I found calming and empowering, and I listened to it during labor. The music helped me stay focused and calm, and it gave me the strength I needed to get through the most intense moments.
Looking back on my pregnancy journey, I'm grateful for the role that music therapy played in helping me manage my emotions and prepare for childbirth. If you're a mom-to-be, I encourage you to give music therapy a try. Put on your favourite tunes, close your eyes, and let the music take you to a place of calm and relaxation. Your body and your baby will thank you for it.
